I've been looking at sex and the city box sets, GHD IV, and ipod shuffles. for SATC box sets, you can buy for about £50 in amazon and £60 in HMV, people are bidding far more than that on ebay. Also Ipod shuffles are going at plus £30, you buy them in asda, amazon and the apple website for cheaper than that. GHD are ins some cases going over £100, given the amount of fake GHD flooding the market I would rather buy for £119 from the GHD website and have a 2 year warranty and KNOW that it is a genuine product.

Gone are the days, where you could get a good bargain from ebay.

I agree with you. Nothing is cheap on ebay anymore.

I think that people get their friends to bid on their lots to make them more money

I accept what you say, but you are referring mostly to new items i think. Happens outside ebay though - today at the 'great woolies closing down sale' i noticed at least one item that after discount was still more expensive that at Morrisons.

There are still huge numbers of bargains to be had in the second user field. In just the last 10 days I have had 2. I wanted a cheap digital camera to keep in the cars glovebox - got a little panasonic with Leica lens, only 4 megapixel, for just the 99p opening bid plus a fiver carriage. It arrived this morning and is in immaculate condition and the lens is a cracker and it takes super photo's. Mine was the only bid. I also got a pair of Levi's Jeans, allegedly wrong size and only worn once, again for the 99p opening bid plus 4 quid carriage. They look brand new, are genuine (I only wear levi's so have store bought ones for comparison) and are a perfect fit. My current £1400 laptop was bought on ebay from a guy i have bought from before, for 500 quid with full makers warranty which is now registered in my name with the maker. So there ARE bargains out there, depends on what you are buying.

I agree that there are a lot of items on Ebay that go for ridiculous amounts and could be found much cheaper in the shops but if you are sensible enough to know what price you are willing to pay and never go above it, then Ebay is an excellent choice to pick up some bargains still.

Stay FAR from eBay! I bought from someone with over 1000 feedback and 100% rating and it was still a fake. People give feedback within the first week of purchase when things look good. When product fails them later, they think it is the product, not the seller. Make sure you get it from an Authorized Dealer so you can get a warranty.

I bought a Curious George hoodie for my son for like $12 while I was grocery shopping at Walmart & he just had to have it. lol. I saw the same hoodie on ebay sell for almost $30 & that was before shipping. Some of these people need to do some research or get off their butts & go to the actual store to see what things cost.

i think of countless the individuals offered the products in bulk from a producer website or something of the style and that they get them extra fee-effective for paying for that way. they're waiting to get the article at fee. merely like the shops. They get it at fee and up the fee slightly and that they are nonetheless waiting to make a income. different individuals are stealing from shops including Walmart and merchandising them on ebay. I merely observed on the information a pair of couple who took they're childrens into purpose with them and stole merchandise. the chief of the keep took it upon himself to persist with them abode. while they have been interior the abode he appeared into the storage and there became a extensive pile of toys nonetheless interior the boxes. the individuals have been merchandising the merch.on ebay and now they're paying for and merchandising intercourse for cover in reformatory. Ha ha. It became on Dr. Phil.

Its most likely shill bidding. I have about 15 ebay accounts (which I dont use anymore). Im a former powerseller and left ebay aka feebay along with most people this year. You cant make a living from it anymore, they ruined people this year with all their ridiculous changes. But its probably people bidding on their own items from different accounts because if nobody else bids on it, then they can at least leave themselves positive feedback, which raises their feedback percentage (because ebay has a new rule that if you get any negative feedbacks, your listings wont show up in search results and will be all the way at the bottom or a few pages back, even if theres only a few minutes left for the auction). The amount of visitors to craigslist is going to pass ebays soon because sellers like left ebay and sell there now since ebay treats its sellers so bad. You cant find bargains on ebay because they ran off most of the powersellers and small sellers with their new rules.

Examples: buyers can leave sellers negative feedback, but sellers cant leave negative fb for buyers, even if buyers dont pay, which has ran alot of sellers off since just 1 negative feedback greatly affects a sellers sales, and opens the door for buyers to scam sellers now.

Ebay allowed people to sell downloadable products until this year when the new CEO stepped in. They gave digital download sellers a few days notice before pulling the plug on them, so people who were making a living on ebay were shut down literally over night. Since digital downloads can be duplicated and sold over and over again, they made up a big portion of the items on ebay, so when they left it affected all sellers because when a person searches in google for an item, and comes across an ebay listing for a digital download, they might keep shopping on ebay after that which is good for all the other sellers. Now theres alot less listings in google, since theres alot less digital download listings, so theres alot less shoppers visiting ebay. Most of the digital sellers either left, or have to put their items on CD now and ship it, which caused them to raise prices to make up for extra money they have to spend on cds and packaging. Less customers means that people have to raise their prices, all sellers, to make up for the lost sales...then ebay raised their fees at the same time, so now sellers have to make up for extra fees too. They really shot themselves in the foot with this rule.

It's been over for a while here in the U.S. I don't even bother with ebay anymore. People get in this mode of winning. They probably don't even realize it while it's happening that they are overpaying for an item. It's another reason I'm off of ebay. It's so easy to get in that mode. Emotion vs. Rational thinking.

I agree.

Been trying to get Juicy Couture handbags for daughters but they are all fakes and some selling at high prices. They are all imported from China and ebay must know about this but not doing anything.

Yes. I sold guitar hero a few weeks ago. It sold for £60, plus they had to pay £7 postage. I was completely confused, because I know you can get it new from some websites and not have to pay postage for £59.99. Not that i'm complaining =P

That's the thing with ebay. People get caught up in the "i must win" syndrome.

No.

eBay is a great place to get bargains. Also, it is the convenience of not having to go out and buy it. Not being lazy and that though.
