I am a married stay at home mom of 3 boys. My husband works but at this time one income is not enough for a family. I love to bake and make desserts. I am looking for info on how to start my own business online to sell my desserts. I live in Maryland and wanted to know what licenses and requirements there are to use my kitchen at home to bake and sell these items online. I am also looking for info on any legit work from home business that does not require me to sell anything (i.e. Mary Kay, Avon, insurance etc.) I am not much of a seller, unless it is something that really interests me like my desserts. I have applied for LiveOps before but they were not hiring at the time. I have seen a couple of sites that say own your own online Dollar Store and Shopping Mall, and they say that they do not require any type of money or fees to get started and all you have to do is pick the items that you want to have in your online store. Thanks everyone for all and any help I recieve.

Before you begin selling edible items from home, you will need to do some research to keep yourself protected. I have begun the process of an at home biz that sells food items. You need to speak to your insurance agent first. They will tell you what insurances you require so you don't lose your home if someone claims to get ill from your product. Also your local zoning office, check to see that your biz is permissible by your town/city. You will need a tax i.d. number available at your city or town's Dept of Revenue Services office. You will also need to check with your local health dept. and acquire a business license. The Small Biz Assoc can be a great help and many places have a local division called SBDC (small biz development ctr). There's a lot to check into to have a legit food biz from home and it's best to take the right path to ensure all goes well. Best wishes.

I've not heard of ISI either. My suggestion is identifying your strengths and your passions. Once you identify them then start your search looking for something that parallels your personality. If it's jewelry then look for jewelry, if it a service that provides discounts on everyday purchases then look for that, if health is important to you or those close to you then look for something in that field. Most people that aren't successful in home based businesses have chosen products or services that they're not passionate about or that it doesn't fit their personality. It's important that you check out several things regarding companies you align yourself with. Do they take advantage of people? Is their a lot of turnover in people related to the business? How good is their support? How good is their compensation plan? Are they ethical? What differentiates them from someone else? Are the products or services as good as they say they are? Do people that use the products or services have real testimonies of the benefits? Is the product or service unique? All these things should be considered. I've been involved with several different companies and have been disappointed once I've seen the business for myself. I've recently found two companies that are unique, provide great products and services, and have great compensation plans. So keep looking and ask around. If you really want to find something you will. If I can be of furher assistance let me know.

You basically pass around food everyone eats and has a good time and the products make great gift too. I have a show for her every year and my friends always look forward to it. Great ideas for entertaining, gift or everyday.
