If a program is really affiliated with or sanctioned by the government, the last letters of the web address will be ".gov," not ".com." Also, you may find charities which claim to offer scholarships or grants. Those will always have ".org" at the end of their addresses. ".gov" and ".org" are pretty tightly controlled, so the chances of being scammed by information contained directly on such a site is very low. ".com" can be obtained by anyone for any "legitimate purpose, so the scam factor is high. Go see your school counselor (or if in college, your financial aid office) for guidance to the best legitimate sources of funds.

Most likely it's a business. You pay them to do the research for you. Any online listing that ends in .com is a commercial enterprise. If you wish to find out about grants check with the government agencies. They will be listed as .gov and usually will be free of charge.

It seems your main question has been answered but I wanted to send you a couple of links.

SBA has a financing resource center as well as a listing of Federal grants -- I put both links below.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Either go to a dot org. or a dot gov site. The dot com most likely is a scam.

Yes it's a scam, if they were a Federal agancy they wouldn;t have a dot com domain name, It would be dot gov instead.

If the website doesn't have .org at the end, yes, its a scam.
