Is a business major a waste of time?

Question

I already run a small company run just by me growing pretty fast. Right now Im majoring in science for premed. But seeing no intreast in it. And people tell me bad to not have a college degree.

So wondering if I should major in business as they say its an easy degree which wouldnt interfer with running my company.

I would prefer to major in computer science but feel it would take to much of my time.

For you, yes, probably a waste of time. You need the nuts and bolts (exact tax laws and how to fill out tax forms, hiring and firing regulations, OSHA, ordering, inventory control, banking,,,,,) and you would not get that in business school. It sounds like you have an innate ability and lots of brainpower.



However, when you need an accountant, you will be glad they have a business/accounting degree. They are trained to see the big picture as well as work with the numbers. They bring a different perspective, and can relieve you of routine bookkeeping functions.



It is not necessarily an easy degree.

NO, NEVER. Business is not a waste of time. You have a business that is growing and why do you want to sacrifice it for the sake of education. Is it only because some fools will tell you that you are not even a graduate. Dude simply look around how many graduates are unemployed and moving heaven and hell to find a job. And, look at you, you have a profession and GOD wiling someday you can provide employment to one or many.

Do not think I am against education. But just give a thought why do we want to be educated, only because we want to be employable. Even there are professional students as well who love their research as much as you love your business.

If at all you want to be a graduate, learn the tricks of the trade that you are in. May be a formal education related to the product or service that you cater to might help.
