It can be done, but you first need to sit down with your boss and discuss the details. Remote work forces have been used with good and bad results for years, Boeing and Microsoft employees were doing it in the 1980's.

Listing a couple resources for you to get up to speed first, before you discuss it with your boss. You're going to need ammunition because some employers are afraid their remote employees won't get the work done or will compromise their business.

The sources will also give you a better idea of how to set your hours, and get paid for the work you do. A few address specific companies or organizations currently considering telework status for their employees, but I think you'll have a better idea of what's involved instead of simply setting up your Outlook email.

With Outlook Express you cannot access a Microsoft Exchange server if that is used at your company. If a different email server is used, you should ask your network/mail administrator for details on how to set it up.

It will always be possible to forward the work emails to a private email account with pop access, like gmail or hotmail, and then you can retrieve your emails from home.

Sending requires SMTP access, so if you need to send emails from your work account as well, again you need to get the details to set it up from the network administrator at work. He will also need to configure the work email server to allow email relaying from your home IP.
