Network Marketing Business?

Question

I was shown the Amway plan a few days ago, and was quite keen in joining, but I've heard some negative things regarding the network marketing community. Can i really make money in a network marketing business such as Amway? How good is their products? Is it true that I will be so called 'owning my own business', by the sentence 'Independent Business Owner'? Or is it just a scam?

Amway has made a lot of ppl rich. However, I suggest you join a legitimate company that doesn't require you to have inventory to sell. What ends up happening is ppl beef up a big ole' inventory and find it very difficult to get rid of it via selling. Most of them regret the experience and end up giving everything away to friends and family.



I joined a legitimate online business with YTB. I don't need an inventory and my product, TRAVEL, is something everybody buys anyways....why not have them simply buy it from my website instead of some faceless website. I get the commissions instead of the other guys...can't beat that!

With the right company, product, and compensation plan it works. What do you know about network marketing? Does the company have products or services that improve peoples lives? As you may have read there are plenty of scams out there. Check the company out on the better business bureau and any other third party business investigators for unbiased information. That's what I did and I found a good company. I was a customer for about six months before I even thought about really promoting the products. Out of the six different people I know doing amway or quixtar none of them are making any money. Some of them have over 100 people in their downline and been doing it for over 2 years with little to no results. From what I've seen with these companies it is hard to duplicate any big sucess. Amway is a network marketing business. First, there is nothing wrong with network marketing companies (Tupperware, Avon, etc.). Amway's products are not bad, but Amway has the worst busniess reputation in the world. They are always in trouble with Better Business as well as every other consumer group out there. That is why the keep changing their name (i.e., Quixtar). Also, Amway has burned a lot of folks, who now have a garage full of products they paid for, but can't get rid of. As for network marketing, you can be successful at it, but you have to learn how. You need to learn sales and marketing for this type of business, THEN pick a business that you have researched in detail (which may or may not be Amway for you). I learned all this the hard way, until I read the free ebook The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing (http://chrisandpatricia.the7greatliesofnetworkmarketing.com/). It reset my thinking about my business and helped me develop a marketing plan. Try reading it, before choosing a company.

p.s. I would personally avoid Amway (for many reasons) or any other distributor based model, unless you like to take orders and run deliveries. There are better opportunities out there.

If you find a legitimate company and are willing to put in the effort, then yes, you can make money in this industry. I highly recommend reading "Your First Year in Network Marketing" by Mark and Rene Reid Yarnell.



Do your research on the company!!! I can't stress that enough. The company I decided upon was listed on the Inc. 500 list five times (that's once more than Microsoft). They've been in business for 22 years and I used the products before I ever agreed to endorse them. I was told in advance how much to expect in compensation based on how much work I put into my business.



I was drawn to the value of the company, healthy and effective products, low start up cost, no inventory to stock, no distribution of products, money back guarantees, and an easy to understand compensation plan.
